Background on Mine

The Kalyani & Shivani Underground Coal mine Project of a combined capacity of 0.78 MTPA on a combined mining lease area of 937.31 ha are operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited, and is located in village Kalyani and Shivani, Tehsil Pratappur, Dist Surguja, State Chhattisgarh, India. The combined project secured its environment clearance for expansion of Kalyani UGP (0.12 MTPA to 0.18 MTPA (peak) and expansion in ML area from 100 ha to 376.59 ha) and Shivani UGP (from 0.27 MTPA to 0.60 MTPA (peak) and expansion in ML area from 389.67ha to 560.51 ha) on 9 February 2011.[1]
