Kara LNG Terminal (Russian: Кара-СПГ) is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal proposed in Russia.

Background

In March 2021, the Russian government published its federal LNG program which listed Kara LNG as a possible project. The LNG terminal's projected production is 30 million ton per year.

As of February 2022, the project was expected to come online between 2030 and 2035.

In November 2023, Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a decree liberalizing export of LNG which may speed up development of this project.

Kara LNG Terminal was last mentioned in the media in October 2023. The project was not included into the "Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2050", released by the Ministry of Energy of Russia in April 2025.
