Background
Kesoram Industries Limited operates the Vasavadatta Cement Plant established in 1986. This facility is one of the company's two cement manufacturing plants, the other being the Kesoram Cement Plant in Basantnagar, Telangana. Together, these plants have a combined production capacity of 10.75 million metric tonnes per annum.[3]
The Vasavadatta Cement Plant produces various types of cement under the "Birla Shakti" brand, catering to regional demands in Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The plant is strategically located near limestone deposits, ensuring a steady supply of essential raw materials.[4]
In November 2023, Kesoram Industries announced the demerger of its cement business, transferring it to UltraTech Cement through a share swap agreement. This transaction includes the Vasavadatta Cement Plant and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.[5]
