Background on Mine
The Khairagura opencast expansion coal mine has a designed capacity of 3.75 MTPA over an area of 1217.50 Ha. It is owned and operated by Singareni Collieries Company Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India.
The projected first received its environment clearance for a capacity of 0.72 MTPA in 2004, and EC for an expansion to 3 MTPA in 2007[4] and then EC for further expansion to its current capacity to 3.75 MTPA in 2015.[5]
