In 2014, BP invited companies to bid on a pipeline package for the Khazzan development in north-central Oman.[5]
In 2015, a contract was awarded to the Oman Construction Company for the engineering, procurement, and construction of a 60 km, 36 inch gas export pipeline. The pipeline was to connect BP's Khazzan project to the larger gas network at Saih Nihayda. It was set to be complete in 2016.[2]
In September 2017, Phase 1 of the Khazzan project started production, with a 1.2 billion cubic feet per day production capacity.[4]
