Background
This proposed pipeline is part of the project designed to increase the capacity for natural gas transmission from Greece to Bulgaria at the Interconnection Point (IP) Kulata/Sidirokastro. The project has a baseline and extended option. The Kresna-Piperevo looping gas pipeline is proposed as an extended option, together with construction of the Ihtiman-Gorni Bogrov gas pipeline, expansion at CS Petrich, and reversal of CS Ihtiman, if there is enough economic interest. The total cost of the extended option is approximately 307.2 million EUR.[3]
