Background

In October 2023, Chernomortrans JSC announced plans to build an oil pipeline from Karskaya Oil Pumping Station to Ilysky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai. The aim of this project is to facilitate transportation of crude oil from the Karskaya region to the Ilysky Oil Refinery. The primary objective of the project is to ensure uninterrupted and reliable crude oil supply to the Ilysky Refinery. This will enable the facility to produce a broader range of oil products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, heavy fuel oil, and other types of fuel.[6] The project was included in the document “On the approval of the territorial planning scheme of the Russian Federation in the area of federal transportation (pipelines)” released by the Ministry of Energy of Russia in May 2015 and revised in November 2023.[5]
