Background

In the summer of 2001, Transneft PJSC completed construction of the oil pipeline from Sukhodolnaya to Rodionovskaya (209 km), which became part of the Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk Oil Pipeline. This route played a crucial role in facilitating the transportation of oil to the port of Novorossiysk without transiting through Ukrainian. The pipeline connects to the the Lisichans-Tikhoretsk 1 and 2 Oil Pipelines at the Rodionovskaya pumping station.[10][11][12]

The capacity expansion project includes two stages. The first stage was the reconstruction in the segment of Samara-Zenzevatka to increase capacity to 40 mtpa, which started in 2019 and was completed in 2022.[6] The second stage targets a capacity expansion of 12 mtpa, which was to start in 2023.[6]

A capacity expansion project entailed reconstruction works since 2018 in the segment Samara-Zenzevatka.[3] The project included the construction of a new looping of 192 km with a diameter of 1020 mm and a replacement of 500 km of the pipeline. The start and the end location of the looping line is unknown. Pumping stations on the route of the pipeline have also been modernized.[4][6][7]

In December 2023, it was reported that reconstruction of the pipeline was nearing completion.[8]
