Background
In November 2019 H-Energy received environmental approval to build the 5-mtpa terminal from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.[2] The terminal's original capacity will be 3 mtpa, with the option to be expanded to 5 mtpa in the future.[3]
According to the 2023 GIIGNL report, the project has received EC Approval, as well as approvals from National Waterways and Kolkata Port Trust.[4][5]
According to the company website, additional approvals were received in 2020.[3]
In June 2021, this project was mentioned by LNGPrime with connection to the Kanai Chhata-Shrirampur natural gas pipeline; however, no development updates for the terminal were provided.[6]
As of June 2024, the project was still expected to be commissioned mid-2024, according to the company website.[3] However, there have been no new development updates related to this terminal since 2020, and as of June 2024 this project is presumed cancelled.
