Background
The Kuqa Back-Pressure power station is a power plant proposed by the Ningbo Thermal Power Company in 2020. It was included in a list of Xinjiang's 'key power projects,' which also listed nine other new thermal power projects.[2] The power plant, if constructed, will provide electricity to support the Kuqa Economic and Technological Development Zone Chemical Park, where it will be located.[2]
In June 2021, the company put out a bid for engineering supervisors for 84.5 million RMB, signaling that the project was still developing.[3][4]
As of June 2022, the units appeared under construction.[5] [6] [7]
Construction appeared to be suspended. The project was cancelled in June 2026.
