Background

The project was proposed in March 2024.[1][2]

In August 2024, the U.S. imposed sanctions on LNG Yakutia LLC in connection with the Russia's invasion of Ukraine.[3][4][5]

The project was not included into the "Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2050", released by the Ministry of Energy of Russia in April 2025.[6] As of June 2025, LNG Yakutia LLC has entered official liquidation proceedings.[7] There have not been any further updates about the project.
