Background

The power station was owned by Iberdrola, who mothballed the station in 2020.[1]

In September 2021, the Langreo City Council approved the total dismantling of the plant. The silos would be demolished slowly using small cuts rather than explosives due to the proximity to La Felguera urban center.[2]
