Background

Lafarge operates a limestone reserve for cement production that has caused egregious social and environmental implications among residents in Mfamosing. Investigative journalists say that residents are experiencing a resource curse where profits and products are sent outside as the community they operate in suffers. Residents are often without power and live in unstable homes caused by the vibrations from mining.
