Lafarge Africa Sagamu Cement Plant is an integrated cement plant operating in Sagamu, Ogun, Nigeria.
Location
The map below shows the exact location of the cement plant in Sagamu, Ogun, Nigeria[1]:
Coordinates (WGS 84): 6.813933, 3.621188 (exact)[2]
Background
Scientists conducted a study analyzing soil samples and medical records of residents living around the cement plant. They found that major sources of heavy metals came from raw material preparation and discharge during production[3]. When looking at medical records they also identified that there was an increase in diseases linked to heavy metal exposure[3].
