Background

In 2024 owner Holcim broke ground on a new kiln line and CO₂ processing unit at its Lägerdorf cement plant. The line will include an OxyFuel kiln, and is predicted to capture 1.2 million tonnes per year of CO₂ from the plant, nearly 100% of the plants carbon emissions. The new line is expected to be operational by 2029.
