Background

Lambton power station first began generating power in 1970.[1] The plant had four coal-fired units, with a total generating capacity of 1,976 MW. Units 1 and 2 were shut down in 2010, bringing total gross capacity of the plant down to 950 MW. Units 3 and 4 were retired in 2013.[2] The Lambton power station is slated for demolition by 2023.[3]
