Background on Project

Zheneng Liuheng power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 2,000 MW in Zhejiang Province. The plant began operating in 2014.[3] [4][5]

Expansion

The capacity proposed at Datang Wushashan power station was transferred to the the Zheneng Liuheng power station.[6]

In late 2021, the local government anticipated getting a permit by the end of the year and beginning construction soon after. It was planning to install controversial CCUS technology to curb emissions.[7][8]

The additional capacity was permitted in February 2022. The first unit was planned to be completed and put into operation by the end of December 2024.[9]
