Background

Initial development of the Los Ramones power station, including vegetation removal and preparation of the 20-hectare site, began In late 2017 and early 2018 with the approval of SEMARNAT (Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales).[8] The plant's construction was funded with $515 million of investment capital, and it began commercial operations in 2020.[9][10]

Los Ramones operates using two GE H-Class gas turbines[11] and is one of the most efficient gas-fired peaker plants in Mexico.[12]
