Background

The three-unit Lynemouth power station was fueled by coal for more than four decades, from its original start-up date of 1972 until 2015.[5][6]

Conversion to biomass

Czech-based EPH (Energetický a Průmyslový Holding) acquired the Lynemouth plant in 2016. Following a £450-million, multi-year conversion process, all three units of the Lynemouth plant began burning wood pellets instead of coal in 2018.[5][7]
