The Mahalo Gas Hub Pipeline is a proposed natural gas pipeline in Australia.[1]
Location
The pipeline would run from the North section of the Mahalo Gas Field (Queensland, Australia) near Togara, to the Rolleston Compressor Station where it would connect with the Queensland Gas Pipeline.[1]
Project details
- Operator: Jemena[1]
- Owner: Mahalo JV[1]
- Parent company: Comet Ridge (57.14%), Santos (42.86%)[1]
- Capacity: 25 TJ/d[2]
- Length: 73 km[2]
- Diameter: 10 in[1]
- Status: Proposed[1]
- Associated Infrastructure: Mahalo Gas Field (Queensland, Australia), Queensland Gas Pipeline, GLNG Pipeline
Background
In 2023, Comet Ridge signed an MoU with Jemena for a new gas pipeline that would connect the Mahalo North section of the Mahalo Gas Field to the existing Queensland Gas Pipeline. It was announced that Jemena was conducting a pre-FEED study, aiming to construct a 73 km, 10 in pipeline capable of delivering 25 TJ/d. First gas was said to be expected from the Mahalo Gas Field in Q4 2025.[2]
In 2025, it was announced that Jemena would undertake a FEED on the pipeline, which was formally named the Mahalo Gas Hub Pipeline. The scope was broadened to a pipeline that would generally connect the "Mahalo JV compression facilities" to the Queensland Gas Pipeline and the GLNG Pipeline. Jemena intended to construct and operate the pipeline, subject to the FEED and an FID.[1]
