Makiivka Branch Yenakiieve Iron & Steel Works (Макеевский металлургический завод (Russian)), also known as Makeyevky Iron & Steel and PJSC "Makiivka Steel", is a 1500 thousand tonnes per annum (TTPA) basic oxygen furnace (BOF) retired steel plant in Makiivka, Donetsk, Ukraine.

Background
Metinvest Holdings lost control over the Makiivka Branch Yenakiieve Iron & Steel Works property on March 15, 2017 when it was seized by the breakaway authorities of Donbass.[2] The plant was owned and operated by Vneshtorgservis ZAO, which belongs to the breakaway authorities of Donbass.[3][4] In 2021, a new company was established by a Russian businessman Evgeny Yurchenko, Southern Mining And Processing Complex (Russian: "Южный горно-металлургический комплекс", ЮГМК), which absorbed all of the metallurgical plants belonging to ZAO Vneshtorgservis.[5][6][7]
Operating status & workers' salaries
Since 2019, the plant is most likely not producing any steel or iron. According to a government source, in March 2021 only a rolling mill was still operating.[8] BOF may be in an operating state but is likely not operating; BF and OHF have been shut down.[9] In 2017, there were reports of workers not receiving salary for months.[10]
