The mine is operated by Singareni Collieries Company Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India, in village Manuguru, Mandal Bhadradi, District Bhadradri Kothagudem, State Telangana, India. The Manuguru Opencast-IV coal mine project first started after converting Prakashmkhani-3 Incline underground mine and received its environment clearance for 1.5 MTPA on 6 December, 1996 and got environment clearance for an expansion to 3.5 MTPA on 10 December, 2014.
