Background

In 2019 Edison and Ansaldo Energia revealed plans to repower the plant.[11] Once constructed, the new 780 MW turbine will replace the existing 766 MW unit. Unit 3 will be dismantled while Unit 4 will remain on reserve, operating in the event the new combined cycle is halted for maintenance.[12]

In 2020 GE sent the new gas turbine to the plant site.[13] Google Earth imagery also reveals construction has begun in 2020.
