Background

The Mattapalli Cement Plant power station was originally granted Environmental Clearance (EC) by the State level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority in April 2013.[4] The 30 MW captive power station was to provide power to the related cement plant owned by NCL Industries (Ltd).[4] After years of delays, the project's owner applied for an EC extension in March 2021, which was then transferred from the State level EIAA (SEIAA) to the central government's Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for further deliberation.[5]

The project was then submitted to the MoEFCC along with the cement plant proposal as a single industrial project proposal, but was returned to the owner and requested that the entire project be resubmitted to the SEIAA.[6]

Without further updates on the status of the power station's EC or other news, the project was presumed shelved, although it may have continued development quietly.
