Background

In 2013 Meaford Energy announce their plans to build a 299 MW combined-cycle power station.[2] In 2016 the project was granted approval.[1]

The application has not been withdrawn but there has been very little news since then. In 2021 the project applied for 299 MW new generation in the T-4 Capacity Market 2024-2025 auction, but they were not listed in the final results.[3][4][5] This would qualify them for government subsidies to guarantee electricity supply.[6] It is unclear if financing depended on these subsidies.
