Background

Meghalaya Cements Ltd established a cement plant at Thangskai village, on NH 44 in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, which became operational in 2006 with a production capacity of 900 tons per day. The production capacity was eventually expanded to 2600 tons per day of clinkerization.[3] Products of Meghalaya Cements are marketed under the brand name TOPCEM Cement.[4] The plant manufactures ordinary portland cement (OPC), fly ash-based portland puzzolana cement (PPC) and calcined clay-based PPC.[4]
