Background on Project

Mengtai Coal Power Group has been permitted to build a 2 x 330 MW coal plant in Dongsheng District. Coal supply would be domestic.[1][2]

The units were completed in 2015.[3]

Expansion

Two additional 330 MW subcritical coal units began preliminary construction near the power station in 2018,[4] although they do not have a permit for construction.[5]

In May 2020, the project was permitted as 2 x 660 MW coal-fired units.[6] Construction began in August 2020.[7]
