Background

Appendix II of Vietnam's 2011-20 National Master Plan for Power Development, approved in July 2011, lists a two-unit, 2,000-MW coal-fired power plant in northern Vietnam, to be constructed by 2030. ("Than" means "coal," and "miền Bắc" means "northern Vietnam.")[1] No other reference to this project is available.

Under the revised Power Development Plan VII, the project is cancelled.[2]
