Project details

Background

Main Line

The Minell Pipeline was constructed in 1960, and commissioned in 1965. It was purchased by Manitoba Hydro in 1999 and is governed by the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board. It is the only federally regulated portion of the Manitoba Hydro natural gas system. The natural gas flows from south to north, supplied by TC Energy's Canadian Mainline Gas Pipeline. On October 5th, 2021, a farm tractor blade struck the pipeline near McAuley, Manitoba. It ruptured and released 84,000 square meters of gas and was shut down for 3 days.[5] Minell Pipeline Ltd was fined CAN$52,000.[6]
