Background
A new unit (unit 1R) was announced in the Ministry of Energy plan for 2021-2025 released in 2021: it stated that some old units at this station which have equipment similar to the turbine model PT-60 (ПТ-60) will be retired and possibly replaced with modern equipment. Since unit 1 is 60 MW, this might be referring to a replacement of unit 1.[10] There have not been any developments related to this units since the program was released in 2021. In February 2022, there were complaints from local residents about the smell of fuel oil from the station. This may be associated with the transition of oil refineries to new technologies for deep oil refining, due to which the non-standardized composition of oil fuel components has changed significantly.[11]
