Monteverde Pacific LNG Terminal
From Global Energy Monitor
Background
In October 2024, Pacific Terminal S.A. received authorization from the Agencia de Regulación y Control de Hidrocarburos (ARCH) in Ecuador to build an LNG import terminal in Monteverde.[1][2][3][4] The ARCH gave Pacific Terminal S.A. five years to complete the project.[3] Pacific Terminal S.A. is one of only two authorized companies in Ecuador to import LNG; the first authorized company was Sycar, which began importing LNG in 2022 and proposed the Jambelí LNG Terminal.[1]
