Background

The Moranbah North coal mine is an underground mine, operated by Anglo American, near Moranbah in the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia.[7] Moranbah Mine is a joint venture between Anglo American and several partners, with Anglo American owning the majority (88%) of shares. Operations at the mine are expected until 2033.[8]

In January 2020, Moranbah North experienced a roof collapse; operations didn't restart until June 2021. [9][10]
