Background
According to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), the electricity demand of the Mymensingh zone is more than 600 MW.[14]
In 2007, the 210 MW unit came online.[15]
In October 2020, the Bangladesh Post reported that the state-owned Rural Power Company Limited (RPCL) would set up a 420 MW dual fuel combined cycle power plant. At the time of reporting, land development work had already been completed.[14]
In 2024, the 420 MW unit is expected to come online.[16][17]
