Background

The cement plant and captive power station had previously received Terms of Reference (ToR) from the India government in 2017, when the project was proposed by Emami Cement Ltd. The project failed to progress and its ToR expired in January 2021. The company changed its name to NU Vista Ltd., who obtained new ToR in October 2021.

The power station was not mentioned in NU Vista's 2022–2023 annual report, which was published in July 2023. There had been no further progress as of April 2024, and the project was presumed shelved.

Captive mine rejected (2021)

According to the Indian Bureau of Mines, NU Vista's proposal for a captive mine had been rejected in 2021.
