Sinopec Yangzi power station (中石化扬子石化自备热电厂) is an operating power station of at least 220-megawatts (MW) in Xinhua Road, Luhe, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 南京扬子伊士曼化工自备电厂 (Unit 1), Nanjing Yangzi YEC power station (Unit 1).

Background

Sinopec Yangzi power station is a six-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 360 MW. The plant was completed between 1986 and 1988, and is owned by Sinopec.

In 2019, it was reported that two new 50 MW coal-fired units were under construction at the site. The new units, units 7-8, were planned for operation in 2020. When they are commissioned, units 1-3 will be retired.

The first new unit, unit 7, was commissioned on December 28, 2021.

Unit 8 was commissioned on January 4, 2022.

At least four units at the site were reportedly retired by early 2022 (per Google Translate: "the No. 1 boiler and No. 2 steam turbine of the Yangzi Petrochemical Thermal Power Plant were out of service. So far, the No. 1 to No. 5 boilers and No. 1 to No. 4 steam turbine generator units in the old area of ​​the Yangzi Petrochemical Thermal Power Plant were completely out of service, which marked the green steam supply center project success.").
