Background

The Newstan coal mine was an underground mine, operated by Centennial Coal, producing 4 million tonnes per annum near Woodrising in New South Wales, Australia.

The mine closed in 2014 and plans to reopen, but after ten years, is presumed cancelled.[3] The mine is operated by Centennial Coal. The company currently has a 1.6 million tonne expansion project to reopen.[4] The project appears cancelled as the company has not received US$3.8 in government funding to build hydro on the site of the former coal mine.[5]
