Background

The draft "Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia up to 2040 with Projections up to 2050", released in July 2025 and adopted by the Ministry of Mining and Energy in November 2024, mentions construction of a cogeneration power plant near Novi Sad with the installed capacity of 350 MW for electricity and 100 MW for heat.[2][3] As of April 2025, there have not been any further updates about the project.
