Background
The 58 MW Nueva San Francisco power station was one of 29 new power plant projects totalling 3340 MW approved in November 2023 as part of Argentina's TERCONF program under the government of Alberto Fernández.[11][12] Eight months later, in July 2024, the entire TerCONF block of projects was shelved, when Argentina's Secretary of Energy issued resolution 151 / 2024 under the new government of President Javier Milei.[13][14] As of July 2026, two years had passed without further news, and the project was presumed to be cancelled.
