Background

Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO) (which is co-owned by Oman Oil Company and Takamul Investment Company, a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company) is currently developing a project to build the Ras Markaz Oil Storage Terminal, oil storage facility and port near Duqm, as well as a 440-kilometer pipeline from the Oman Main Oil Line to the terminal. In August 2016, OTTCO shortlisted 11 bidders for the construction of the terminal.[2][5]

According to DMS Projects, the Oman Main Line–Ras Markaz oil pipeline would function as a second export line for Omani export crude oil.[4]

In December 2021, it was reported that the terminal and associated infrastructure was expected to become operational by Q2 2022.[6] The Ras Markaz Crude Oil Storage terminal was completed in 2022 with no connection to the pipeline network.[7] The pipeline connection to the Main Line is under development.[1]
