Petronas FLNG Terminal
From Global Energy Monitor
Background
In 2024, Petronas announced it was assessing the possibility of developing an integrated strategy for gas and oil extraction in Suriname's offshore Block 52.[1] The development included, among other things, a floating LNG terminal (FLNG).[1] In 2025, China-based Wison New Energies won a feasibility study for the new FLNG facility. The FLNG terminal development is planned to extract gas from the Sloanea gas field.[2] If built, the terminal could begin operating as early as 2031.[3]
