Background

Pingshi power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 600 MW in Guangdong Province. The first two units (2 x 60 MW) were built in 2000 and retired in 2009.[1] Unit 3 (125 MW) was built in 2003, and retired in 2018.[2]

Units 4 and 5 (2 x 300 MW) were built in 2009 and 2010, and are still operating.[3] They are planned for retirement before 2020.[4]

Ownership

Pingshi power station was founded in 1992 by two Hong Kong companies. In May 2010, 100% shares of Pingshi Power station were bought by Huadian Power International.[3]
