Background

The company was fined more than 19 million RMB for improper solid waste management, leading to illegal stacking of gas ash, causing thallium pollution across provinces in Jiangxi and Hunan. This pollution also resulted in elevated thallium concentrations in the drinking water source section within the boundaries of Liling City in Hunan province.[1]
