Background

The site preparation for the power station (construction of the pile foundation) started in March 2017.[12][13] It appears that construction was halted in 2017 due to technical difficulties. The two gas turbine units with a capacity of 75 MW each and related equipment were delivered to the Vankor field in 2016 .[14] This plant is expected to provide power for the to the oil and gas fields of the Vankor cluster belonging to Rosneft - Suzunsky, Tagulsky and Lodochnoye, which are at different stages of development.[14] In February 2019, additional construction supplies were delivered to the construction site.[15]

Although the plant is still mentioned in the news after 2019, there doesn't appear to be any progress related to the plant's construction since February 2019, indicating that the project is possibly shelved.[15] However, the project was still included in the Ministry of Energy of Russia Energy Program for 2021-2027, published in February 2021, with the expected start-up date of 2022.[16] Since only the pile foundation has been constructed (early site preparation) and no equipment or building has yet been installed, the status is "pre-construction".[12][13] The project was once again included in the Ministry of Energy of Russia Energy Program for 2022-2028, published in February 2022, with the expected start-up date of 2022[17] and in the Ministry of Energy of Russia Energy Program for 2023-2028, published in February 2023, with the expected start-up date of 2023. There are no recent news reports since then related to construction.

According to the report published by NEK Engineering (contractor) in August 2023, the station began operating.[18] The Russian Ministry of Energy 2024-2029 energy program lists the station as operating. According to the document, Unit 1 was launched in June 2023 and Unit 2 in September 2023.[19]
