Background

The Polosukhinskaya Coal Mine (Полосухинская шахта) is an operating underground coal mine in Kemerovo Oblast, Russia.

The Polosukhinskaya coal mine is owned and operated by Rusugolholding LLC.

The mine was bought in July 2020 by Rusugolholding LLC, which in turn is owned by Stirakia Holdings Ltd, incorporated in Cyprus.[3][4] Previously the mine was owned by Sibuglemet.[5]

The mine is a former block No.1 of the Bolshevik coal mine and was separated from it in 1985. The Polosukhinskaya mine develops the Baidaevskoye coal deposit, located in the north-eat of Novokuznetsk. The mine field consists of two separate areas: the main filed and Antonovsky-3 section. The coal mined is valuable coking coal.[6]

It produces 2.5 million tonnes of coking coal per year.[7][3] The main consumer is Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK).[3]

In the first half of 2022, production of the mine was 1.1 million tonnes.[8] 2022 production reached 2.287 million tonnes.[9]
