Background

Port Esperanza FSRU was a proposed LNG terminal in California, United States. The current status of the project is unclear. The Oil & Gas Journal reported in 2006 that Esperanza Energy LLC was studying the feasibility of a deepwater LNG import terminal 12 miles off the coast of California. In 2007, Port Esperanza LNG announced they would begin seeking approval for the project in the near future. However, there have been no development updates since 2007 and the project appears to be cancelled.
