Background on Project

Qianbei power station is a coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,200 MW in Guizhou Province. The first phase of 4*125MW were brought online between 1998 and 2000. It was shut down in 2014, to meet the requirement of "shutting down small to build big" policy to allow the sponsor to build an expansion project Qianbei-2 power station in nearby Chayuan Town, which is later called Jinsha Chayuan power station.[1] The second phase of the power station consists of 4*300MW units. They were completed between 2003 and 2004. It was originally owned by CPI.[2]

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[3]
