Background

Qidong LNG Terminal (广汇能源启东LNG接收站转运站) is an LNG import terminal in Jiangsu, China.[3] The terminal received its first shipment on 4 June 2017.[4] Its original receiving capacity is 0.6 mpta, with two 50,000 cubic meters storage tanks. In November 2018 an additional 160,000 cubic meter storage tank was commissioned, raising the terminal's capacity to 1.15 mtpa.[5] A further expansion under Phases 3 would raise capacity to 3 mtpa, and this is under construction and scheduled for completion in 2020.[5]

In Phase 3, the fourth storage tank with 160,000 cubic meter volume began construction in May 2018[2] and was commissioned in June 6, 2020.[6]

In February 2020, phase 4, a fifth storage tank with 200,000 cubic meters of volume was permitted for construction by Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission. [7] The construction began in May 2020.[6] The fifth storage tank was commissioned in October 2022. [8]

In March 2021, phase 5, a sixth storage tank with 200,000 cubic meter of volume was permitted for construction by Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission. [9] The operating date is set at the end of 2023. It will increase the LNG storage capacity to 820,000 cubic meters.[10] The construction of the sixth storage tank began in August 2021. [11]

After the fifth and sixth storage tanks' completion, the total receiving capacity of Qidong LNG Terminal is going to reach 5 mtpa.[12][13]

The seventh storage tank with 200,000 cubic meter is proposed.[15] The prospective receiving capacity is 10 mtpa after the expansion is completed[16].

The sixth storage tank was completed and went operation in November 2023. [17]
