Background
Qingdao power station is a 4 x 300 MW coal plant in Qingdao majority-owned by China Huadian. It was commissioned from 1996 to 2006.[1]
A fifth unit of 300 MW was among 15 projects cancelled by China's National Energy Administration (NEA) in September 2016.[2]
In April 2022, project developers announced that a 2 x 540 MW natural gas cogeneration power station would be developed to replace the coal-fired units. The project was in a pre-construction stage.[3]
