Background on Plant

Qinhuangdao-2 power station is a six-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,630 MW. The plant was completed between 1992 and 2007, and is majority-owned by Hebei Construction & Investment Group.[1]

Expansion project

Two new units of 350 MW each are planned to replace units 1-2 of the power station. As of March 2021, plans for the new units are undergoing feasibility studies.[2]
