Background
In 2014, an LNG Terminal with 0.5 mtpa of receiving capacity was proposed. No further information for the plan was available.[3]
Quangang District, a petrochemical zone in Quanzhou laid out a special plan for gas from 2018 through 2035. An LNG terminal was proposed in the plan from 2020 to 2025, with no specific details.[4]
In December 2021, Sinopec signed an agreement with the local government to develop the LNG terminal.[5][6] The project is proposed in two phases, with the first phase estimated to cost 10 billion RMB.
